– “What do you think people are thinking here? That I’m sitting with my
rabbi?”

7 years
ago, yesterday (November 11), “Jack and
Jill”
, a comedy movie of Adam Sandler, premiered in the USA theaters. In
this movie, Johnny makes a special cameo playing himself along with Al Pacino,
while enjoys the Lakers (USA

professional

basketball team) game; wearing a Justin Bieber
shirt, eating popcorn and drinking Coca-Cola. (Something we may never see in
real life…)

Curiosities:

* Neither
the director Dennis Dugan could hold his anxiety and ended up revealing the
“surprise” in an interview:
“There’s a
secret guest star, but I can’t say who it is”, but then he admitted: “It’s Johnny
Depp.”

*

It takes
37 minutes to Johnny appears for less than 2 minutes. Johnny was in vacations
with his family after filming “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”,
and his scene was shot in Los Angeles with the same clothes he was wearing when he arrived at the studio.

*

One year
before, in December 18, Johnny went with his children,
Lily-Rose and Jack, for the Justin Bieber’s “My World” show in Miami, Florida.
They went backstage and Johnny met him personally.

*

In a
press conference for “Rango”, a journalist asked Johnny if he was a “belieber”
(a Justin Bieber fan). Johnny didn’t understand, thought that he was saying
“believer”, and answered: “Yes, of course. I am a huge believer”. When
explained, he laughed and said “A Belieber? I’ve actually never heard that one.
And you know what? Yes, I am a Belieber. I am, and I shall remain so.” Moments
later, Justin, who just happened to be staying at the same hotel, showed up in
the room surprising everybody and went to greet him and the cast for a few
seconds. “We’ve just established that I’m a ‘Belieber.‘” Johnny said. While
shaking their hands, Justin said that he went to say hi once he heard that he
was in the building. After that Johnny completed: “Who’s not a Belieber after
that… How am I gonna explain this to my daughter?”

Happy 8th anniversary for “Jack and Jill”!

8 years ago, on this day (November 11),  Johnny made a special cameo with Al Pacino on Adam Sandler’s movie as himself enjoying the Lakers (USA professional basketball team) game, wearing a Justin Bieber shirt, eating popcorn and drinking Coca-Cola.

😂

😂

“ – I lost my pearlies in the war.”

Funny scene of Johnny as Ed Wood and Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood”, released on this day (September 23).

TBT: Funny moments of Johnny as Charlie Mortdecai.

“Mortdecai has something very unique and special. It’s very different from anything I have done before.” – Johnny for the “Philippine Daily Inquirer” (April 11, 2014)

“I hope your parents all told you that you die at the end. You sort of float without living. You’ve got one shot. Grab it, snatch it up, make it yours. Don’t let a moment of it slip by.” – Johnny as Richard Brown in “The Professor

This will be that kind of movie that will make us laugh and cry. During the trailer you can see Johnny laughing at least three times, and also we can see that even though Richard is facing a cancer, he keeps being positive and seems happy…
When we watch the movie, I think we better bring a box of tissues too. 😭 😭

“The Professor” will be released next week (April 18) on DIRECTV, and one month later, in May 18*, on theaters and on demand.

Ps. The movie already had a première, with Johnny attending, last year, in October 5, at the Zurich Film Festival, while the movie was still named “Richard Says Goodbye), and was also screened in Portugal, last February. Even though announced a première for May 18, I think there won’t be an event with cast attending, once on the same day, Johnny will be performing with the Hollywood Vampires, on the last day of the upcoming tour.

Rango: Comparison between Behind the Scenes and Movie.

This week, we celebrated the eighth anniversary of “Rango”, which different from most of the animated movies, during production all the actors and actresses wore costumes, props and acted just like their characters in order to “give them the feel of the Wild West” and develop better their roles, and their voices, and some other sounds, were recorded together instead of recording in booths with every actor isolated.

“ – I have a sympathetic gag reflex…” – Charlie Mortdecai.

Every time Mortdecai gags in the movie I burst into laughter.

“ – Crunchy-creamy-cookie-candy-cupcake. Okay everybody! Let’s take it from the top!” – Rango

8 years ago, today (March 4), “Rango” was released in the North
America and several countries around the world. The movie premièred, with
Johnny and cast attending, three weeks later in February 14 at Regency Village
Theatre, in Westwood, Los Angeles, and started to be screened from March 2 in other countries. Rango was a critical and
commercial success, grossing $245.7 million against a budget of $135 million.
The film won the 2011 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, making it the
first non-Disney or Pixar film to win that award since 2006’s “Happy Feet”, and
it was the last one to win until 2018’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”.
In
this movie, Johnny is Rango, an eccentric chameleon who accidentally ends up in
the town of Dirt, an outpost that is in desperate need of a new sheriff.

> Synopsis:
A chameleon (Johnny Depp) who has lived as a sheltered family pet, finds
himself in the grip of an identity crisis. Rango wonders how to stand out when
it is his nature to blend in. When he accidentally winds up in a frontier town
called Dirt, he takes the first step on a transformational journey as the
town’s new sheriff. Though at first Rango only role-plays, a series of
thrilling situations and outrageous encounters forces him to become a real
hero.

> Curiosities:

*
This is Johnny’s second animated character in a movie, after “Corpse Bride”, 6 years earlier. But it’s his fourth animated character which he lent
a voice
, after Yogi Victor in “King of the Hill” (2004), Victor Van Dort in
“Corpse Bride” (2005) and Jack Kahuna Laguna in “SpongeBob SquarePants” (2009).

*

Different from most of the animated
movies, during production all the actors and actresses wore costumes and acted
just like their characters in order to “give them the feel of the Wild
West”. Their voices and some other sounds were recorded together instead
of recording in booths with every actor isolated. On the other hand, most of
the scenes had to be re-recorded, because the cast and mainly Johnny, used to
ruin the scenes once they couldn’t hold their laughter.

* In the beginning of the movie, Rango makes a crossover with Johnny’s 1999 movie “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. While Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo speed across the high road on the desert, Rango, which was thrown on the road, lands on the windshield of a red convertible driven by Raoul Duke. Both characters were voiced by Johnny.

*

During the credits Johnny’s name appears twice: The first for Rango and then
for Lars. Some people used to believe that Lars was Rango’s real name, but Lars
was the name given for Raoul Duke character in this movie. This was made to
avoid a copyright issue with “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” Book and Movie.

*

Ben Mendelsohn and Domhnall Gleeson were also considered for the role of
Rango.

*

This is one of the few movies which Johnny really watched. He did it with his
children.

*

The movie has a slightly
longer version: The Extended Version, released on the
Blu-ray has 4 minutes of extended scenes, extended dialogue and a new scene in
the end. But also, some jokes and scenes were deleted or edited, such as the
characters spitting.

In this movie, Johnny works with two friends from “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise: The director, Gore Verbinski who directed  the first three Pirates’ movies (

“The Curse of the Black Pearl”  in 2003

, “Dead Man’s Chest”  in 2006  and

“At World’s End”) and Bill Nighy, who in these last two movies, played

Davy Jones and in Rango voices Rattlesnake Jake

“ – Best sh*t of my life.” – Donald Trump.

We all know that Trump sucks, but Johnny’s impersonation

in this scene of “Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie” is hilarious.

Johnny as Donald Trump on the behind the scenes of “Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie” in December of 2015.

“I just love the fact
that, even worse than me, he’s unable to finish, to form a sentence that becomes
vocabulary that actually works together.” – Johnny Depp.

rabbi?”
